In the Vodou tradition, the altar is more than just a table of objects—it is a living portal, a “point” of power where the human and the divine meet. For the independent practitioner, a properly established altar is the heartbeat of their spiritual life.

This e-class is designed for those seeking to honor the Lwa and their Ancestors through a dedicated home practice. While Vodou is a communal faith, the personal altar allows you to anchor yourself in the traditions of Haiti regardless of where you are in the world.

In this session, we will explore:

• The Anatomy of an Altar: Understanding the “Rada” (cool/white) and “Petro” (hot/red) sides of service and how to balance these energies.

• Essential Elements: The significance of the five elements—earth, air, fire, water, and spirit—and how they are represented on the cloth.

• The Crucial First Step: How to properly honor the Ancestors before reaching out to the Lwa.

• Consecration & Care: Step-by-step instructions on how to bless your ritual objects, the proper use of perfumes and waters, and the daily maintenance of your sacred space.

• Creating the “Pwen”: How to turn a physical space into a magnetic focus for your Mèt Tèt (the Master of your Head).
